Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel isn't the only family movie in the theaters this holiday season. If the kids are bouncing off the walls and need to get out of the house, there are other kid-friendly choices that won't have you searching for a pair of earplugs. Check local listings for times because some of the movies have been out awhile and are in limited release.
The Princess and the Frog (G): The latest Disney animated offering has been getting rave reviews for its twist on the old princess-kisses-frog tale.
A Christmas Carol (PG): Disney also animated the story of Ebenezer Scrooge's Christmas Eve redemption with Jim Carrey providing many of the voices.
Blind Side (PG-13): Sandra Bullock is getting lots of Oscar buzz for her role as a steel magnolia who, with her family, helps a black youth through his teen years and into the NFL.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon (PG-13): For older teens, take them back to see the second in the trilogy, this one adding werewolves to the vampire mix.
Avatar (PG-13): James Cameron's film about the clash between humans and an alien race over natural resources has already raked in $230 million worldwide.
