Let's hope Hillsborough County kids hung onto the tickets that were good to get into the Florida State Fair for free on Feb. 5. That's because fair officials will let Hillsborough kids use that Feb. 5 ticket to get into the fair for free after 4 p.m. this Friday.
Bad weather last week may have kept some kids away from the fairgrounds so officials hope to get them to come this week. Students are encouraged to present the Feb. 5 ticket when they arrive. But if they don't have it, they still will be admitted free. "For those (Hillsborough County) students who didn't make it out, we want them to have their student day, but only after school is over," said Chuck Pesano, executive director of the Florida State Fair Authority. Student day for Pinellas, Polk, Manatee and Sarasota counties is Monday.
However, there is a drop of bad news with the announcement: The Friday forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of rain.
The fair runs through Monday. Tickets are $10 adults, $5 ages 6-11 at gate (Mon.-Fri.). $12 adults, $6 ages 6-11 at the gate (Sat.-Sun.) Ride tickets and wristbands are not included. For information call (813) 621-7821 or go to www.floridastatefair.com.
