2008-2009 at TBPAC: A range of dance, a dash of laughs

TAMPA

Music, comedy and dance fill in the blanks of Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center's 2008-09 season, released today. Highlights include violinist Midori, gospel's Mighty Clouds of Joy, author-comic David Sedaris and the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane modern dance company. The seasons for three of TBPAC's largest series — Broadway, Opera Tampa and Jobsite Theater — were previously announced. • A dance lineup with Randy Jackson's presentation of "America's Best Dance Crew'' and the Russian National Ballet Theatre in Giselle gets high marks for diversification. Other outstanding dance includes Ballet Hispanico and India's Nrityagram Dance Ensemble. • The music ranges from Pink Floyd and Beatles tributes to hip-hop violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain to Celtic Women to the Afro-Cuban All Stars. Club Jaeb's Monday night series continues to bring in notable folk singers, such as Steve Forbert. • Margaret Cho, Lily Tomlin, Paula Poundstone and Lewis Black are among the comedians at TBPAC this season. Theater productions include Sorab Wadia in The Kite Runner, based on the bestselling novel set in Afghanistan. • For information: (813) 229-7827; toll-free 1-800-955-1045; tbpac.org. There is an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 20 at TBPAC.

There is a 4-ticket limit per show.
