Christmas at the Pops!
And the Florida Orchestra's roll continues, with three sold-out Christmas shows this weekend. The orchestra joins with the Master Chorale of Tampa Bay for a seasonal pops program, Victor Vanacore conducting, that includes selections Joy to the World, Frosty the Snowman, A Charlie Brown Christmas and the Hallelujah! chorus from Messiah. Shows are 8 p.m. Friday at Ferguson Hall of the David A. A Not So Silent Night .
Mezzo soprano Becca McCoy and composer/pianist James Weaver perform music from their new CD A Not So Silent Night at 8 p.m. Friday and 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday at New American Theater in St. Petersburg. The program is on the traditional side, with songs such as Bring a Torch, Jeannette Isabella; Greensleeves; Ave Maria; O Come, O Come, Emmanuel; and the Hamlet Nativity (lyrics by Shakespeare).
