3 stage picks: 'My Fair Lady,' 'Holiday Inc.' and music of the season

MY FAIR HOLIDAY

The cast of My Fair Lady, including Andrea Prestinario (Eliza Doolittle), pictured, and Jeff Parker (Henry Higgins), presents a holiday cabaret at 7 p.m. Sunday at Asolo Repertory Theatre, Sarasota. Holiday Inc.

Bay area performers Heather Krueger, Amy Quijano, Meredith McDermott, Aaron Washington and Eileen Lymus-Sanders head the cast of Holiday Inc., a new musical written and directed by Jonathan Van Dyke, whose Totally Electric was staged by MAD Theatre of Tampa in 2007. The production opens Friday at 7:30 p.m. and has nine shows through Dec. 22 at the Jaeb Theater of the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts, Tampa. $36.50. St. Petersburg Opera has put together a cornucopia of holiday favorites, featuring soloists, dancers, chorus and orchestra, Mark Sforzini conducting. Susan Hellman (Micaela in the company's Carmen), left, plays Mimi in a staging of portions of La Boheme, set on Christmas Eve in Paris. Other cast members include Victoria Browers, Francisco Rendon, Eric McKeever, John Short and Samus Haddad. The program also includes selections from Messiah by the chorus and dancers in excerpts from The Nutcracker. Ruthie Nelson, the reigning Opera Idol, will sing her winning aria.
