American Stage in the Park: In 25 years, from Bard to 'Boyz' to bohemians

This year is the 25th anniversary of American Stage in the Park. The annual springtime production of theater under the stars started as Shakespeare in the Park. But after a punk-rock Macbeth drew a peak of almost 20,000 to the waterfront park in 1997, attendance tailed off. So the theater made a "course correction,'' in the words of producing artistic director Todd Olson, and began staging shows other than Shakespeare in 2005. Last year's production of the musical Altar Boyz was the most popular in a while, with attendance of about 12,000.

Here's the list of all 25 shows in the park:

1986: Taming of the Shrew

1987: A Midsummer Night's Dream

1988: The Tempest

1989: The Comedy of Errors
