Edgy comic Amy Schumer will bring her blend of girl-next-door looks and mean-girl put-downs to the Straz Center's Ferguson Hall on May 11.
She made her network debut in 2007 on NBC's Last Comic Standing. But it was the roast of Charlie Sheen last year on Comedy Central that established her as a comic who can make Mike Tyson blush.
"Charlie you're just like Bruce Willis," she said at the 2011 roast. "You were big in the '80s and now your old slot's being filled with Ashton Kutcher."
Her Comedy Central television show Inside Amy, in which Schumer is the creator, star and writer, will premiere next year. Her one-hour stand-up special, Mostly Sex Stuff, was Comedy Central's second-highest rated special this year.
After eviscerating Sheen, she was brought back this summer to roast Roseanne Barr. She made Entertainment Weekly's list of the meanest jokes of the night when she said, "I was surprised you were running for president. I just think a lot of people just couldn't picture you, like, running."
Tickets start at $32.50 and go on sale Friday at the Straz Center ticket office or online at strazcenter.org.
