'I Due Foscari' comes to Sarasota Opera

I Due Foscari, which opens Saturday night at 8 and has seven performances through April 13. Based on Byron's play The Two Foscari, it is about a feud between two Venetian families. $25-$120.

Dennis Romano, a Syracuse University history professor and author of the newly published The Likeness of Venice: A Life of Doge Francesco Foscari, 1373-1457 (Yale University Press), will give a free talk on the real-life character portrayed in the opera at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Jonas Kamlet Library of Sarasota Opera House.
