Back in the 1960s and '70s, Larry Coryell, left, was one of the guitar gods. His jazz-rock fusion was right up there with Miles Davis, Weather Report, Herbie Hancock and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. The Eleventh House was Coryell's pioneering band, and he sat in with all the jazz greats, from flutist Herbie Mann to guitarist John McLaughlin. At 66 he's still going strong (he often filled in for Les Paul at the late guitar legend's weekly New York gigs) and has put out albums ranging from reworkings of the classics (i.e., Ravel's Bolero) to takes on Thelonious Monk and Tracy Chapman (on the 2006 album Laid Back & Blues: Live at the Sky Church in Seattle). At 3 p.m. Sunday, Coryell and pianist Kenny Drew Jr. get together for a Tampa Jazz Club concert in Ybor City at the 240-seat mainstage theater of the Hillsborough Community College Performing Arts Building, Palm Avenue and 14th Street, Tampa. $5-$21.
