Sarasota Opera opens its season with an old favorite, La Boheme, about the ill-fated love of seamstress Mimi (Maria D'Amato) and poet Rodolfo (Harold Meers). Artistic director Victor DeRenzi conducts, and Stephanie Sundine directed the Puccini opera, which opens at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Sarasota Opera House, 61 N Pineapple Ave., Sarasota. Sung in Italian with English supertitles. The company will also perform Mozart's Don Giovanni (opening Feb. 12), Verdi's I Lombardi (Feb. 26) and, to launch its American Classics series, Robert Ward's The Crucible (March 5), based on the play by Arthur Miller. $19-$130.
