Opening night

Slurping and strolling: Greater New Port Richey Main Street will hold the third annual Watermelon Stroll from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. There will be fresh watermelon, arts and crafts on Main Street, a community garage sale in Cavalaire Square, artists in front of Progress Energy Art Gallery on Grand Boulevard, contests and prizes. What the heck is that?: Artist/illustrator Ralph Butler will lead a panel discussion titled "What Is Art?" at 7 p.m. Saturday at Progress Energy Art Gallery, 6231 Grand Blvd., New Port Richey. The panel includes artist Jo Baughman, author Chris Coad Taylor, poet Fran Durler, multi-media artist Robert Mateja, actor Jim Poe, writer/artist Scott Smith and Pasco Arts Council director Ann Larsen. Audience participation will be encouraged.

Glitz and glamor: The duo of Bob and JoRae Stewart will do a Las Vegas-style show at 8 p.m. Saturday at Colorama Music, 9302 Denton Ave., Hudson. Tickets are $5. Doors open at 6 for cocktails and dinner, at additional cost. Call (727) 863-7539.

Music under the moon: The classic oldies band Ron and the Classics will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on June 24 at Music on the Beach at Sunset Beach, Tarpon Springs. Free, with free shuttle bus from Tarpon Springs High School. Take chairs or blankets for seating. Hot dogs, popcorn, sodas, water, ice cream will be for sale; picnics welcome. No pets or alcoholic beverages allowed.

Remembering a classic: Joey Dee and the Starliters and the Crests with Tommy Mara will perform a tribute concert to the late Johnny Maestro of Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge at 8 p.m. June 26 at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court (off U.S. 19 a quarter-mile north of County Line Road), Spring Hill.
