Things to do in Pasco County, Sept. 10-15

Mystical, alluring sounds

Gypsy Star will perform Spanish/flamenco, Latin, Celtic, and more from their album, Once in a Dream, at 7 p.m. Saturday at Richey Suncoast Theatre, New Port Richey. Featured performers are singer Rebecca Zapen and the belly dance troupe Shazadi & Jewels of the Desert, at right. Tickets are $12. Mellow drama: The comedy-drama Steel Magnolias will be presented matinees and evenings through Sept. 25 at the Show Palace Dinner Theatre, 16128 U.S. 19, Hudson. Not a musical: The Ken Ludwig comedy/farce, Lend Me a Tenor, will be presented at 8 p.m. today, Saturday and Sept. 16 and 17 and at 2 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 18 at Stage West Community Playhouse, 8390 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Tickets are $15, reserved seating. Call (352) 683-5113.

Comedy for adults only: Italian Chicks, a passionate comedy with a little drama (with adult content) will be presented at 8 tonight at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court, Spring Hill. The show features Maryann "Boom Boom" Maisano. Doors open at 6:30, show at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20. Call 1-888-655-7469 for reservations.

Dance, ballerina, dance: Auditions for the 15th annual production of The Nutcracker ballet by Expressions - the Dance Company, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Dance Time studios, 6464 Ridge Road, Port Richey. There are parts for actors and dancers of all ages. Performances will be on Dec. 16 and 17 at the Center of the Arts at River Ridge with professional guest dancers. Director is Gillian Davis.

Under the stars: "Night in the Islands" will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday along the Sponge Docks (Dodecanese Boulevard) in Tarpon Springs. The evening features live Greek music featuring the trio Ellada, dancing and outdoor dining (at additional cost).

Supper club songs: Singer John Timpanelli will perform an all-new solo show of pop music at a dinner show at the Quality Inn, 5316 U.S. 19 (across from Cracker Barrel) at noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday 7 to 10 p.m. Sept. 16 and noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 25. Music on Sunset Beach: The classic rock Roadhouse Band will perform from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs. Those who go should take chairs or blankets for seating. Picnics are welcome, but there will be food vendors selling hot dogs, popcorn, sodas, water, ice cream, T-shirts, hats and koozies. No pets (except service animals) or alcoholic beverages are allowed. Concert and parking are free.
