Briefs: SPCA wants to train you

Want to be a dog trainer?

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay is seeking 30 volunteer dog trainers for their Family Dog Training Program. Those who qualify will learn training methods used by top trainers in the country at no cost. The six-week, hands-on training will be followed by a commitment to volunteer to assist in behavior classes for the public.

Pampered Pet Expo in Orlando

Find out about the trendiest products and services for your pets at the Pampered Pet Expo Friday through Sunday at the Orange County Convention Center, 9800 International Drive, Orlando.

Friday is Holistic Pet Night, where you can learn about pet massages, acupuncture and Reiki, or how to do Doga (yoga with your dog).

Also pet adoptions, dog Frisbee demonstrations, doggie fashion show, crab races and more.

Hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Daily admission is $10 advance and $12 at the door. Children 4 to 12 are $5, and 3 and younger are free. Parking is $6. Go to for details and tickets.
