Find a friend: Roosevelt the 3-month-old kitty

Most 3-month olds don't undergo hip surgery, but Roosevelt is one tough little strawberry-colored cookie. Weighing in at just two pounds, he's a tiny patient with luxurious fur and a larger-than-life personality. Veterinarians at the county shelter performed a procedure on Roosevelt called FHO to help ensure a better quality of life for the devilish charmer. Adopt and enjoy Roosevelt, ID#A2361040, fully neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped at the Pet Resource Center at 440 Falkenburg Road in Tampa, open daily 10 until 7, www.HillsboroughCounty.org/Pets.

The Hillsborough County Pet Resouce Center will stage another First Saturday Celebration from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 6 with back-to-school pet adoption specials, food trucks, and expert lessons on pet care and training courtesy of the Hillsborough County Community College Vet Tech Club. Exhibitors include a pet portrait artist, and kids can even win prizes for creating a portrait of a favorite shelter pet. For more information, call (813) 744-5660 or visit www.HillsboroughCounty.org/Pets.
