Video: This two-legged boxer pup's first-ever trip to the beach should inspire all of us

A joyous dog at the beach always brings a smile to anyone watching. But this video … this video takes it to a whole new level.

Duncan Lou Who is a 9 month old, two-legged boxer puppy who had his first beach outing late last month. The video, filmed with a GoPro camera, shows the excited dog cavorting and trotting along the sand, seemingly unencumbered by the fact that he's missing two legs.

Duncan's severely deformed rear legs had to be removed while he was 3 months old. "He has a wheelchair," says the description on the video, posted to the Panda Paws Rescue YouTube account, "but can't stand to use it. So we let him be free and just walk on his two legs."

Panda Paws Rescue's Facebook page includes more discussion of Duncan — or DLW, as they call him. Answers to frequently asked questions include more discussion of his wheelchairs and what his condition means for his future development.

Duncan "weighs 18 lbs & his bones have stopped growing," his owners say. "His organs have continued to grow to be 'normal' size for a 9 month old boxer.

"Our family is well aware that our time with DLW could be significantly cut short due to his medical issues & build. However, we adopted him knowing that nothing was a guarantee. We will give him the best quality of life for as long as we can no matter how many days, months, years that may be."

And does he look skinny to you?

"DLW eats as much as a full grown boxer should eat. … He burns more calories than other dogs but he also has a medical condition that does not allow him to grow properly & put on weight.

"He is thin, which has its own benefits to his body, as he has to carry it around on two limbs, but he is not malnourished. He is not starved.

"Please, PLEASE know that he is well fed, well loved & well cared for under the supervision of two DVMs."
