A face we will get to know well

Danielle Erb moved up Thursday from spokesperson hopeful to the "New Face of Hawaiian Tropic" skin care products. The 22-year-old recent graduate from James Madison University said she was overwhelmed when she got the call telling her she'd won over the other finalists. Erb, a Tampa native and H.B. Plant High alum, came to the contest by chance through a Facebook ad. The volleyball player entered the contest online and impressed the judges in an interview. She made the top five out of 3,000 applicants and was flown to New York for a professional photo shoot. But that was just the beginning.

All the finalists were posted on Facebook and the public was allowed to choose the winner. Erb won with more than 6,000 votes. She credits her hometown, family, and friends from James Madison for lifting her above the crowd. It's still unclear what her duties will be, but the enormity of being selected as Hawaiian Tropic's spokesperson has Erb pysched for the next step.

One definite perk: a trip to Hawaii in the near future. It will be her first. But before that, Erb will finish her internship in Wisconsin Friday and head back to Tampa Saturday morning. "I'll be back home in good ol' Tampa," she laughed. "I can kind of celebrate by going to the beach."
