'Spring Breakers' star Selena Gomez has left, James Franco still in town

Our long Tampa Bay daydream has ended. Selena Gomez has officially left the area, according to the publicist for Spring Breakers, a movie nearing the end of its production in Pinellas County. Gomez finished her scenes and flew out Saturday to pick up two Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards in Los Angeles. Unlike an earlier trip there for boyfriend Justin Bieber's 18th birthday, she isn't returning. Oscar nominee James Franco is still around, though. The actor is declining interviews but released a typically Franco-esque statement through the publicist: "Shooting in St. Petersburg has been great. … I'm having a great time, it's a good location, nice people. I think the idea is to shoot in a place where people don't really shoot movies." What, these guys never saw Cocoon or Summer Rental? — Steve Persall, Times movie critic
