The St. Petersburg Arts Alliance has announced the recipients of its third annual Muse Awards, recognizing "those that continue to inspire and guide St. Petersburg to its standing as an international arts destination," according to its news release.
Painter Steven Kenny will receive the visual arts award for his oil paintings, which blend contemporary subjects with Old Master techniques.
The performance art award goes to St. Petersburg City Theatre, a community theater that celebrated its 90th anniversarylast fall.
The patron of the arts award recognizes the J. Crayton Pruitt Foundation for its leadership gift to the Warehouse Arts District, which enabled the district's board to purchase land and establish the ArtsXchange.
Literary arts award recipient Maureen McDole is a poet and co-founder of Keep St. Pete Lit, which celebrates and promotes St. Petersburg's literary community through arts, education and events with a literary twist.
Ya La'ford, who is a teacher, painter, muralist and community advocate, will receive the arts ambassador award for representing St. Petersburg to the world as a "City of Arts."
