Ribfest: Smoke will be rising over St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park from Friday-Sunday. Headliners include Huey Lewis and the News and the Doobie Brothers. A free shuttle will run from Sundial, Al Lang Field and the Vinoy ($30-$35). ribfest.org.

Music: Psych-pop group Animal Collective plays the Ritz Ybor on Tuesday ($25-$40). Thursday, legendary reggae band Toots and the Maytals rock steady at St. Pete's Jannus Live ($22). Kansas perform its breakthrough album, Leftoverture, in its entirety Friday at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall ($43.75-$128.75). Saturday, back at the Ritz Ybor, Kristian Nairn, Hodor on Game of Thrones, performs a DJ set cleverly dubbed Rave of Thrones ($15). Turn Down for What producer DJ Snake closes out the week at Tampa's Beach Bar ($21) on Sunday.

Tracy Morgan: The SNL and 30 Rock star brings his aptly named Picking Up the Pieces one-man show to St. Petersburg's Mahaffey Theater on Friday ($35-$65). mahaffeytheater.com.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time: The Tony Award-winning play about an extraordinary 15-year-old runs Tuesday-Sunday at Tampa's Straz Center ($31-$90). strazcenter.org.

An Evening with Dan Rather: The journalist shares his insights on the current state of the media at the Hilton in downtown St. Petersburg on Friday ($100). poynter.org.

Blue Ocean Film Festival: The film festival and conservation summit offers more than 90 films, including Leonardo DiCaprio's documentary, Before the Flood, as well as scientific talks over four days in venues throughout St. Petersburg.
