Anticipated Falcon's Fury to open May 1 at Busch Gardens

TAMPA — The countdown to fear is on. Falcon's Fury, a 335-foot drop tower ride, is opening May 1 at Busch Gardens.

Hailed as the tallest free-standing drop tower in North America, the ride will be the focal point of Pantopia, a new themed land with shops and eateries.

Falcon's Fury will lift guests into the air and tilt them 90 degrees at the top, sending them face down as they fall to the ground at a speed of 60 miles per hour. On a clear day, riders will be able to see downtown Tampa.

Falcon's Fury will be the most significant thrill ride addition to the park since Cheetah Hunt opened in May 2011. It will have a shaded queue area designed for a 45-minute wait, but park officials expect initial lines will be much longer.
