Still haven't made your summer plans? How about a staycation?
St. Petersburg has been crowned best U.S. beach destination for summer vacation in a poll by Mashable.com readers. (Though we suppose that, technically, readers must have secretly known in their hearts that they were voting for St. Pete Beach.)
St. Petersburg won in a landslide, beating out Destin; Kailua, Hawaii; Santa Monica, Calif.; Assateague Island, Virginia; La Jolla, Calif.; Beaufort, S.C.; Ocean City, Md.; Ogunquit, Maine and Provincetown, Mass.
Mashable used data from Priceline's most-searched summer destinations and TripAdvisor's top user-reviewed destinations to compile its list.
Among its tips for Florida travelers, Mashable listed enjoying the sunshine, Jannus Live and the Dali Museum as things to do.
Walt'z Fish Shak, the Hurricane Seafood Restaurant and Crabby Bill's earned recognition for their abundance of fresh local seafood, while the Vans Warped Tour on July 25 was called a can't-miss event.
