The Tampa park has opened a new Animal Care Center where you can see the veterinarians at work. You haven't lived until you've seen a flamingo get his toenails clipped!
It also added a new Iceplorations show, an ice show that opened in the park's Moroccan Palace Theater in February. While it seems like an odd fit for an African-themed park, anything to get out of the Florida heat for a while sounds good to us. The show features puppets, ice skaters and live animals to tell stories set in the African Serengeti, Amazon rain forest and other wild places.
From June 9 to Aug. 12 the park's extended-hours Summer Nights returns with a new Miami-inspired Latin song and dance show, and, for the first time, fireworks every evening.
Also coming this winter, Busch Gardens has announced that it will be adding its own version of Christmas Town to the park from Nov. 30 to Dec. 23. There will be shows, shopping and attractions every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night during the holidays. And just like Christmas Town at the company's Williamsburg park, this will be a separate-ticket event not included with your regular daytime park admission. Ticket options: buschgardens.com
The Busch-owned water park across the street has extended hours this summer. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 11 through Aug. 12, all summer long, not just during Island Nights like last year. But Island Nights is returning every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night from 5 to 9 from June 14 to Aug. 11, when it cranks up the beach party vibe with music, special cuisine and family-friendly beach activities and games.
