The Southernmost Point marker in Key West is a big tourist attraction, one that is so popular people will wait in line to get their photo taken with it. From this point, at Whitehead and South streets, it's just 90 miles to Cuba. It's likely the closest most people will ever get to Cuba. The overall scene is really more interesting than the little snapshot that gets e-mailed to family and friends. We watched for a while as people hurried to get their photo taken so they wouldn't hold up the line. We wondered where the woman in the back of the line got the coconut. Did it fall from someone's tree or did she shake it down? And how far would it have to travel to get home?
