SeaWorld hikes ticket prices to same level as Disney, Universal

SeaWorld Orlando doesn't seem to want to be left out of the theme park ticket price war. For the second time this year, the marine park is raising ticket prices so that its base now matches those of Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, while dramatically increasing the cost of annual passes. Single-day tickets to SeaWorld on Wednesday jumped $4.01 to $89 per adult. But the biggest jump is the $30.01 extra for an annual pass to $119.99, an increase of 25 percent. SeaWorld is undergoing its largest expansion in the marine park's history; Antarctica, a penguin habitat and a ride with a way to interact with animals opens this spring. There are still discounts online and for Florida residents, including the Fun Card promotion where residents can buy a single-day pass and get unlimited admission for the remainder of 2012 and all of 2013. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne
