Star Wars Miniland set to open Friday at Legoland

Legoland Florida's model builders have released some photos of the construction that is under way on its new Star Wars Miniland, set to open Friday at the Winter Haven theme park. More than 2,000 models and 1.5 million bricks are used to create a scene from all six Star Wars movies, plus a scene from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This is a popular feature of the California Legoland, with life-sized models of Chewbacca, R2D2 and Darth Vader made in bricks. Many of the models were built at workshops in Germany and California before being transported to Florida for the display. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne
