On the Camino de Santiago, Day 12: The power of two

Day 12: Grañon to Villafranca Montes de Oca – 27.7 km – 8.25 hours. Total for Days 1-12 = 247 km (153 miles)

The further I walk, the stronger I feel. My body is adjusting to its daily torture. My mind has shifted its focus from introspection to making connections and building relationships with others. My spirit is on a constant high.

I walked next to a friend the entire 27.7 kilometers. Our paces matched. Our conversation flowed freely. When one lagged, the other's steady pace encouraged the other to keep up. When one tired, the other dangled a cup of coffee at the end of the road. When both tired, the thought of a long shower and glass of wine pushed us forward.

The day ended on a sofa at the bar, drinking wine and relaxing.

The power of two is incredible.
