On the Camino de Santiago, Day 31: Nearing the end of her spiritual pilgrimage, a Tampa Bay woman gives thanks for her strong body

Day 31 (Wednesday, August 2): San Xulían to Santa Irene – 41.8 km, 10 hours. Total for Days 1-31 = 759 km (472 miles)

Underneath the extra glass of wine, the occasional ice cream cone and day of lounging around with people I love is a strong and able body.

A body that's carried me not only hundreds of kilometers over the past four weeks, but a body that's carried me for the past 30 years without fail. A body that allows me to reach the summit of a mountain and the bottom of a canyon. A body that keeps up with dozens of energetic children every day. A body that holds still in the most difficult of yoga positions longer than I think possible before falling out of it. A body that tells me when enough is enough. A body that gives me more energy than I know what to do with, begging me to burst into a sprint just because.

A body that's resilient enough to handle the abuse it's been put through these past 31 days. A body that could walk another 800 kilometers if I asked it to. A body that is no more or less strong than any other body on the Camino.

A communal trail mix - I started with dried cherries and was given apricots, seeds and nuts from two friends.
