On the Camino de Santiago, Day 5: Quiet scenes from a quiet day

Day 5: Cizur Menor to Puente la Reina 18.8 km - 6 hrs

Today was a light day. Even so, my spirit felt dulled after the rush and intensity of San Fermin the day before.

Thoughts came and went without lingering too long. The walk felt strong and steady. Exchanges with others were kept to a brief "buen camino" and a smile.

As the day went on, thoughts of the albergue's swimming pool had been pushing me forward. I arrived early, claimed a bunk and went straight for the water. I soaked. I slept. Later, over a quiet glass of wine, I slowly took in the town, the people, the children playing.

It was a good day.
