Things to do for week of Oct. 21 in Tampa Bay

Luke Bryan: The young party guy (see hit Crash My Party) is such a country stud that he sold out the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Friday. So another concert was added on Thursday. And then it sold out, too. That's about 38,000 tickets over two nights. He's joined by Thompson Square and Florida Georgia Line.

Times Festival of Reading: More than 40 writers — including Marcia Clark, Gilbert King and Ridley Pearson — will talk and sign books Saturday at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. Free. Full lineup: festivalofreading.com.

Improvised Shakespeare: See if all ends well when this bunch of guys in swashbuckler shirts improvise a Shakespearean play on the spot Friday at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. Tickets start at $25.75. (813) 229-7827.

St. Pete Opera open house: The growing company will show off its first permanent home, Opera Central, with a free ribbon-cutting, tours and music Friday at 2145 First Ave. S.

Date night

Fantasma Fest: The once raucous Guavaween is now little more than a costume contest on Saturday, but Ybor City has ramped up Fantasma Fest, with ghost stories and Zombie Fest on Friday, and the Little Monsters Promenade and Pumpkin Patch for kids and Big Monsters Bed Bash, both Saturday. For details: ybornow.com.

Helloween: Always one of the most outrageous parties of the year, the theme is "VooDoo on the Bayou." The costume contest has $3,000 in cash and $2,000 in prizes. Admission: $20 at Jackson's Bistro in Tampa on Friday. (813) 786-1300.

David Sedaris: A one-night only show by the NPR contributor and author of bestsellers including Naked and Me Talk Pretty One Day at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Saturday. $43-$53. (727) 791-7400.

Kids and Family

India Festival: Consider it a good primer for the Bollywood "Oscars" here next year. The annual festival fills the Florida State Fairgrounds in Tampa on Saturday with the Bollywood/fusion dance contest, 150 booths, Indian food, music and fashion show. $8; $5 children 3-10. (813) 476-1540.

Clearwater Beach Chalk Art Festival: More than 20 chalk artists will adorn the sidewalks and promenades with fleeting masterpieces. Artists begin work on Friday; judging and awards on Sunday. All at 301 S Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater. Free.
