Go! A Square One Art, Fashion and Music Showcase is the latest in a burgeoning type of art event with multidisciplinary components organized for a single night. In other words, it's a form of arty party.
Go! will be at the Ritz Ybor, 1503 E Seventh Ave., in the Ybor district of Tampa on Saturday from 7 p.m. to midnight. It features works by about 80 artists including Rolando Corsa, whose photograph 3D is shown here, fashions by local designers including Gary Randall (who co-founded Square One Productions to promote area arts and is one of the event's organizers) and a lineup of music acts.
It's free (with a cash bar) and sounds like fun, and I'm being an old fogey in saying that I tend to avoid these gatherings if I'm really interested in studying the art on view, preferring a wine-less, quiet atmosphere. (That's why I rarely go to traditional, much more staid opening receptions.) But the point here is to celebrate and, we hope, loosen some purse strings with so much revelry. Having your art seen is good; having it sell is better, after all.
