CLEARWATER — The new exhibition at the Artists' Way Cooperative Gallery has a distinctly furry feel.
Called "It's Raining Cats and Dogs," the show features several dozen pet-themed works of art including oils, acrylics, colored pencil, pastels, sculpture and photography.
Since pets have been elevated to the role of family members in most American households, isn't it only logical that eventually they would become the subject of artistic expression?
Gallery director Judy Vienneau says yes.
"We were having a brainstorming session and were trying to think of something fun with commercial appeal," she said. "And knowing how people pamper their pets, we thought we might as well jump on the bandwagon."
Most original pieces are priced at $100 to $400. The most expensive is $1,500.
The gallery, at 1403 Cleveland St., is open Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. The show runs through March 30.
A free opening reception and awards presentation is Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.
