Closing party for the Bud Lee photo exhibit in Tampa is Feb. 9

The breadth of photographer Bud Lee's talent and career is on display at Tampa's Florida Museum of Photographic Arts, 200 N Tampa St., through Saturday. A stroke in 2003 pretty much ended his long, successful run as a cultural chronicler whose work appeared in the New York Times, Vogue and Rolling Stone, for example. Lee was also a driving force in creating a rollicking arts community in Ybor City. A benefit and closing party is 6 to 8 p.m. today, hosted by another Ybor activist, Paul Wilborn, who will talk about the late great Artists and Writers Ball and Guavaween, still going strong, with historic photos and mementos on view such as this one of Lee decorating for one of the balls. You can also order signed, limited editions of Lee's iconic photographs. All donations and proceeds will be given to the Bud Lee Foundation.
