Contemporary glass is a good subject for a summer show, and one opening Saturday at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg offers good deals and programs to parents looking for activities out of the sun and heat.
"Global + Local: Studio and Contemporary Glass on Florida's West Coast" features more than 100 works from dozens of the world's best glass artists. The variety of techniques is equally broad as you can see in the William Morris vessel, shown, that resembles clay more than glass.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday with extended hours on Thursday to 8 p.m., and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $17 adults, $15 seniors and $10 students 7 or older including college students with ID.
