The hottest, we're told, of any summer in recent memory.
How timely that the Cool Art Show comes along Saturday and Sunday.
Held inside the St. Petersburg Coliseum, it will be impervious to both blazing sun and possible rain, always in the wings ready to make a mercurial guest appearance.
This year, about 75 artists will line their booths with art and fine crafts in lots of mediums and price ranges for gifts or personal indulgences.
Christmas in July!
As always, you must leave your pets at home. (But, really, do you want them driving in the sweltering back seat of your car anyway?)
You can leave your sunblock at home, too, unless you just like the evocative summer fragrance it imparts.
The event is free and so is parking, either in the Coliseum's lots or along the street.
The snack bar will offer light lunches and beverages, including beer and wine.
Here you see a small sample of what you'll find at the show, which is organized by PAVA, the Professional Association of Visual Artists, based in Pinellas County. The offerings seem especially vibrant this year.
