The art gallery at Pasco-Hernando Community College in New Port Richey winds up the summer with an exhibit of pencil drawings and plein air paintings featuring scenes from area beaches and other Florida landscapes.
Called "Water's Edge," the show contains works by Melissa Miller Nece, whose creations have been featured in national magazines and numerous books, including Vera Curnow's Creative Colored Pencil Portraits.
"My interest is in accurately portraying the details of a subject," Nece said in an artist's statement. "It is my hope that this produces an emotional response beyond the impressive but clinical accuracy of a technologically produced image."
A reception for the artist will take place from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the gallery. Her exhibit continues through Sept. 19.
It is the first of seven exhibits planned at the PHCC art gallery through May 12.
