Bear in mind that most area museums have, in addition to their big summer shows, other smaller ones, too. One is "Picturing a New Society: Photographs from the Soviet Union 1920s to 1980s" at the Museum of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg, 255 Beach Drive NE. They illustrate how the medium was used never for artistic purposes but for propaganda as seen in this photograph by Georgi Zelma. It continues through Aug. 19. (727) 896-2667 or fine-arts.org.
