The West rolls east Saturday with the 13th annual Wildlife and Western Visions Art Show at the Plainsmen Gallery, 2450 Sunset Point Road, Clearwater. It's an annual event that features artists, many from the Western United States, who specialize in scenes of the Western frontier and the natural world.
There is nostalgia in the paintings, prints and sculptures, a sense of what has been and could be lost, mostly through ignorance and indifference. If polemics are in some of the works, though, they're subtle. The main point is pleasing the eye. That's the only point of jewelry, which also will be in the show.
Eleven of the 19 artists will be at the gallery, and several will participate in the Quick Draw, each creating a small work to be auctioned later in the day.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the silent auction from 2 to 4 p.m., and the show is free. (727) 726-5100 or plainsmen.com.
