Maybe a little black dress is more practical. But heck. Sometimes you just have to send a sartorial shout-out, something involving an ostrich boa, metaphorically at least.
Try catwalking inspiration at TRA'shion Fashion Saturday night at ARTpool, 919 First Ave. N, St. Petersburg. It's the gallery's second annual event featuring wearable art for sale from 6 to 9 p.m. and a live show at 9:30. Remember that episode from Project Runway when the designers used recycled stuff? Close.
And, this being ARTpool, there will be music, video and a general artistic melee. Though a tasteful one: Kids are welcome.
Proceeds go to participating artists and designers and there's a cover charge of $20 for adults and $15 for students with ID. (Note that there is no rate for seniors; it's a telling detail.) Kids under 10 are free.
You might want to buy an advance ticket since last year the event sold out. For information go to artpoolrules.com.
