A box is about containment.
Well, usually.
But, as we know, artists tend to gravitate to the unusual. So given the theme of boxes, many of the 11 artists in "Put a Lid On It" at Florida Craftsmen Gallery have chosen to think — and you knew this was coming — outside the box.
The show opens Friday at the gallery, 501 Central Ave., St. Petersburg, with a free reception from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The elaborate music box by Helene Bess and the sculptural abstraction by Virginia Spalter , shown here, prove that creativity won't be contained.
