The whimsically titled show "Rock-Paper-Scissors" opens Saturday at Mindy Solomon Gallery, 124 Second Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. It references the hand game that is more than 2,000 years old and played throughout the world using universally recognized signals to determine a winner. The title may be a stretch since the only link between the art and the game seems to be the idea of shared recognition. But the art is interesting, and that's what matters.

The nine contemporary artists' media include painting, sculpture, video and drawing, curated by Isabel Balzer of balzerARTprojects based in Switzerland. Shown here is (Untitled) Red Explosion, an archival pigment print by Andi Bauer.

Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Free. mindysolomon.com or (727) 502-0852.
