Tour de Clay a two-day celebration of baked goods

Tour de Clay returns Saturday and Sunday for its third year, bigger and better. It has grown from four to six pottery studios featuring demonstrations by 20 artists working in a variety of styles, and you're invited to visit them all.

Each will have a kiln opening, that dramatic moment when all is revealed, either intact or in shards, after a long, slow bake. Chances are slim that disaster will await behind the door since these people are pros, but it's still a fun moment: Get your Christmas gifts hot out of the oven!

The openings are on Saturday, timed so that you can attend them all. Or, more realistically, so you can fit one into your schedule. (See the list.)

Studio hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Don't be shy. Artists love to talk about their work and in this case show you how they work. It's all free and there's a party at the last opening on Saturday. Fire it up.
