Florida Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam made an aerial tour of Florida’s flooded orange groves Wednesday.

His office released a photo of a flooded grove and issued this statement: “It’s still too early to know the full extent of the damage to Florida citrus. But after touring groves on foot and by air, it’s clear that our signature crop has suffered severe and devastating losses from Hurricane Irma.”

Florida’s once-dominant citrus industry has faced severe problems in recent years from citrus canker and citrus greening.
