Winner of the week > Andrew Jackson. The namesake for Jacksonville is staying put on the twenty. Florida’s first governor, albeit a short military position, and the 7th president of the United States, is not in immediate danger of being taken off the bill. President Donald Trump adores Jackson and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin declined to endorse an Obama administration plan to the implementer of “Indian removal” with Harriet Tubman.
Loser of the week > Rick Baker. High expectations are never helpful. The Republican candidate for St. Pete mayor effectively tied a Democratic incumbent in a heavily Democratic city. He even won overwhelmingly African-American precincts. But Mayor Rick Kriseman looked the big winner because of low expectations.
