Sen. Bill Nelson raised $1.75 million in the third quarter of 2017 and now has $6.3 million cash-on-hand.

The haul comes as Nelson suspended his campaign for several weeks due to the hurricanes, an aide said, adding that 16,000 donors made 22,427 contributions.

But it also puts Nelson behind what some other Democrats in tough re-election fights have raised. Sen. Claire Claire McCaskill of Missouri, for instance, raised nearly $3 million in the quarter and has over $7 million COH.
