Donna Shalala enters race to replace Ros-Lehtinen

Democrats have strong chance of taking seat.

Donna Shalala filed campaign paperwork on Monday, formally scrambling the Democratic primary to replace retiring U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen.

A former Clinton administration official and University of Miami president, Shlala is a well-known name in Miami and has influential friends well beyond.

She'll join a crowded primary for a district that Republican Ros-Lehtinen held but was won handily by Hillary Clinton. Some Democratic rivals have already been attacking her record.
