A new poll gives Sen. Bill Nelson a 10-percentage point lead over Gov. Rick Scott in a hypothetical contest.

Democrat Nelson takes 53 percent of the vote vs. 43 percent for Republican Scott in the online SurveyMonkey/Axios poll, conducted Feb. 12-March 5. (Data here.)

That's a bigger spread than other recent polls in the race and Scott has not yet entered the race.

Seemingly aiding Nelson's advantage: President Donald Trump's approach rating is at 46 percent in Florida, according to the poll. Democrats in other states where Trump's standing is better are facing tougher re-election fights.
