Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, a Republican candidate for Florida governor, attended the Republican Party of Palm Beach County's Lincoln Day Dinner on Friday night at Mar-a-Lago.

The sold-out event was headlined by former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Putnam tweeted thanks to host Donald Trump Jr. last night with a photo that included Mark Foley, the Florida congressman forced out more than a decade ago for sending texts to teen boys.

It did not go without notice.

American Bridge, a liberal PAC tracking Republican candidates, said in a statement from spokesman Joshua Karp: "Embracing the support of a sexual predator who abused his power to prey on teenage boys is a new low for Adam Putnam. Floridians ought to be disgusted by Putnam's behavior, there's no excuse for this."

Foley has been out of office since he resigned in 2006. But as a Tampa Bay Times investigation reported earlier this year, his congressional campaign fund was spending money as recently as September 2017. For that story, he told the Times: "The world's changed, so I may one day want to run for a seat."
