Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi is calling for the Senate to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court in a new ad.
The ad from 45 Committee, a Super PAC closely aligned with President Donald Trump, began airing Tuesday, just as the Senate Judiciary Committee began its hearing on Kavanaugh's nomination.
In the ad, Bondi says that Kavanaugh is "devoted to his faith, family and friends."
“The senate needs to put gridlock aside and confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh,” she said.
The ad features two other Republican attorney generals —Louisiana's Jeff Landry and Montana's Tim Fox.
Kavanaugh is Trump's second Supreme Court choice after he successfully appointed Justice Neil Gorsuch. Gorsuch took the seat of former judge Antonin Scalia, who died while President Barack Obama was still in office.
Republicans blocked Obama's chosen replacement without a hearing, and Democrats have vowed to do everything they can to prolong Kavanaugh's nomination process. However, with Republicans in control of the Senate, a defeat would be difficult.
Tuesday's hearing got off to a raucous start with Democrats demanding a delay until they could review 42,000 pages of documents on Kavanaugh's time working for the White House under President George W. Bush.
