GOP ground game in Florida by the numbers

It doesn't bode well for Republicans that the the Republican National Committee today sent out a news release noting that "absentee voting in the Sunshine State (is) set to begin soon," when in fact it has been well underway for weeks. Typos happen, though, and Democrats would be foolish to underestimate the ability of the RNC and Florida GOP to ensure their voters cast their mail ballots.

Here are some Florida GOTV numbers, per the RNC:

**More than 90 paid staff, helping guide nearly 3,000 trained "Republican Leadership Initiative fellows" across the state.

**More than 4.5 million voter contacts so far. In 2018, Republicans knocked on more than 2.5 million doors and made 2 million phone calls.

"We have built a strong, flexible and permanent ground game infrastructure that enables our teams across the country and here in Florida to not only work harder than our opponents but to also work smarter," said RNC spokesman Joe Jackson. "With a top-notch field operation and unparalleled energy and enthusiasm, we're excited to bring home victories for our Republican ticket in November. For the RNC and Republican Party of Florida to surpass 4.5 million voter contacts this past week is the latest signal that we're in this to defy history — and that no one will ever out work us."
