Not that anyone needs a reminder, but Florida is really important to President Donald Trump.

Exhibit DDD: During a Thursday meeting with governors-elect, it was Ron DeSantis who got the prized seat next to Trump. (Kristi Noem of South Dakota is to Trump's left).

Exciting!

And that's not all. DeSantis fanboy U.S. Rep. Matt Gaetz ducked into the White House at about the same time.

Ok, again, why does Florida matter so much?

Think 2020. Governors, who appoint the Secretary of States who oversee Florida's election system are very important come presidential elections.

Who says?

None other than Steve Bannon, who was Trump's campaign manager.

"If Rick Scott was not governor, it would have been very hard for us to win Florida" in 2016, Bannon said.

Trump never hid is affinity for Scott, either.

That also explains Trump's two visits in the final week of the 2018 campaign that DeSantis won over Andrew Gillum.

So we should see a lot more of DeSantis and Trump, chilling together, in the next two years. Get used to it, Florida.
